Let’s get to know Madison Anderson

What are your current responsibilities and background?

I have a degree in Computer Science and briefly worked in web development but quickly realized I wanted a more people-focused job and found my way into recruiting through an old coworker. Currently, I work as the senior administrative associate on our technical recruiting team. I’m transitioning to a more sales operations-focused role as I learn about the client-side of our business. Some of my main responsibilities include planning internal events and designing reports to track our KPIs and sales metrics.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received? Or a mantra you live by?

I follow the company Cleverly on LinkedIn and their “Featured Workstyle” series shares some great insights. One piece of advice that stuck with me was from an executive assistant who suggested running your job as if it was your own business. If you treat every role as if it was your own start-up, you will feel more control and confidence in your decision-making.

Who are your ideal clients?  Where can they find you?

Our value as a staffing consultancy can be seen through testimonials on our social media. We’re on LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook and post resources such as resume tips and open roles. Our ideal clients would be companies that are excited about our Cultures’ offerings, some of which come supplementary with our staffing services. Our hiring process not only delivers exceptional talent, but we also support our clients in onboarding and retaining each hire. All services we offer can be found on our website.

What is a book you read that you would recommend and why?

We have a semi-regular company book club and recently read Immunity to Change by Robert Kegan and Lisa Lahey. It could read like a textbook at times but what I enjoyed most about it was the discussions we had as a group surrounding the concepts introduced in each chapter. We have employees from all corporate levels and varied tenures in the group and I learned a lot about the ways people may perceive their faults and how they work successfully (or not) to change their behaviors and habits. A great book to read with a group, professional setting or not.

What are three things you like to do in your free time?

My hobbies outside of work include cooking and reading, work from home flexibility has allowed me to do this a lot more in the last few years and it keeps me centered on an especially hectic workday. I’m also on an axe-throwing league through Urban Axes in Somerville. I didn’t play a sport competitively in high school or college and I enjoy having a physical goal to challenge myself and being a part of a great team.

In the BostonYPA Community

When/how did you become involved with BostonYPA?  How has this affiliation helped your career?

I became a member this year when I took over our corporate networking initiative. This affiliation has allowed me the opportunity to explore local networking events and share my feedback with the sales and recruiting staff so that they can attend the events best suited to their goals and interests.

What do you enjoy most about being a member?

BYPA has some of the most consistent networking events in the area and it’s great to be able to plan ahead and know that if I ever can’t make it to an event I’m interested in attending, I can go the following month.

For those young professionals looking to possibly join, why should they join?

A great benefit of this organization is that there are no restrictions on the role or job industry for those who wish to join. I’ve always had the most constructive experiences learning from those who come from a wide array of backgrounds.

What would you like BostonYPA professionals to know about your business?  Any events coming up that you’d like to share?
