Member Spotlight: TJ Broderick

Meet TJ Broderick! TJ joined BostonYPA earlier this year, and with a constant presence at our events, it feels like we’ve known him much longer. TJ is a loan officer with Fairway Independent Mortgage, often working with first time homebuyers, like those he meets in our community. Born in Boston, and a graduate of Boston College, we hope you consider TJ for your real estate team if you’re buying in the area he knows so well.

Now, let’s get to know TJ Broderick!

What are your current responsibilities and background?

As a loan officer, my responsibility is to help my clients obtain financing for  purchasing a home or refinancing their current mortgage, but more importantly  being an educator during the process. I’ve been around real estate for a while. I  was a real estate concentration in college and worked in real estate development and construction prior to getting into the mortgage industry.

Did you grow up in Boston? If not, what led you here?

Yes, born and raised in Hyde Park

Tell us more about your job or company - what led you to this focus?

The office I work out of is on W Broadway in South Boston. Fairway is one of the  largest purchase-centric mortgage companies in the country. I got into the  industry as I had a family friend who was a loan officer back in the day, and after  hearing his experiences I immediately signed up for the exam to become a loan  officer.

Is there a mantra you live by?

I’m big into Stoic philosophy, and a quote from Ryan Holiday, the author of  Obstacle is the Way is “think progress, not perfection.” I’m a believer in doing  something imperfectly is better than doing nothing at all, and this quote speaks to  that.

What advice would you give someone just starting in your industry?

Consistency is key. Being consistent in your daily disciplines (both personal and  business) is the key to growth.

Is there a specific niche you focus on?

I love working with first-time homebuyers. The education piece of the mortgage  process is important to me, and I find that I get to educate more with these types

Where can we find you?

I share a lot of educational reels on my Instagram account, @tj_broderick.

Is there a book you read that you would recommend and why?

The One Thing by Gary Keller. This book helped me become more organized in  business and in life.

What are three things you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy golfing, weightlifting, and watching a rugby or soccer game on TV.

In the BostonYPA Community

When/how did you become involved with BostonYPA? How has this affiliation helped  your career?

I enjoy meeting new people, and the Boston YPA has helped make new  connections at every event that I go to.

For those young professionals looking to possibly join, why should they join?

Boston YPA has the best events! I’ve been to other networking events, and they  all pale in comparison to Boston YPA
